Registration at the Place of Residence

Registration of foreign citizens at their place of residence and place of stay is a separate and important issue.

Registration at the place of residence or stay of foreign nationals is a separate and important matter.

The specialists of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Regional Competence Center of Vladimir Region” will advise you on how to arrange temporary registration and how and within what time limits to submit a notification of permanent registration.

Upon arrival in Russia, every foreign national must register for migration purposes. To complete migration registration, you must provide the owner of the residential premises with:

  1. A foreign national’s passport or another identity document. In some cases, a notarized translation of the document is required.
  2. A migration card — it is issued at the border when entering Russia. Citizens of Belarus and certain other countries are not required to have one.
  3. A completed notification of arrival. It must contain your personal details and the address where you will reside during your stay in Russia.

If you are staying at a hotel, the hotel administration is responsible for completing your migration registration.

If a foreign national is registering at their own property, they must additionally provide a document confirming ownership and the consent of the other owners, if there is more than one owner.

For the registration of minor children, a birth certificate or passport is required, as well as a document confirming the authority of the legal representative — parent, adoptive parent, guardian or custodian.

Where can the documents be submitted?

Information on the procedures for registering other categories of foreign nationals for migration purposes can be found on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Migration registration can be completed in four ways:

  1. through the migration affairs units;
  2. through Multifunctional Public Service Centers (MFCs);
  3. through the GOSUSLUGI public services portal;
  4. through Russian Post.

The period for provision of the state service is 7 days, except in certain cases.

The procedures for obtaining a temporary residence permit, a residence permit and Russian citizenship are individual for each applicant.

Persons wishing to relocate to the Vladimir Region may obtain additional information and detailed consultations from the Impatriate Support Unit of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Regional Competence Center for Labor Productivity and Human Capital of the Vladimir Region”.
